Alternative patient position
  • Position the patient in supine.
  • Stand to the side of the patient at the level of his or her knee.
  • Hold the knee that is being examined in about 25-30 degrees of flexion or support the knee with a bolster.
  • Complete the examination procedure as described on the previous page.

Special instructions and comments

  • Do not stand directly in front of the knee with this procedure in order to avoid being struck by the patient’s foot.
