Clinical notes and interpretation
  • The practitioner should not provide the stimuli too quickly or too close together to avoid summation of the stimuli.
  • The tool used to provide the sharp stimulus should be discarded to prevent cross contamination.
  • A patient with an absence of pain (i.e., inability to perceive sharp stimulus) has a greater risk of injury.
  • Pain and temperature typically recover before touch.
