Welcome to the Wayne State University Department of Health Care Sciences Somatosensory Examination and Evaluation Study Guide getting started page. This page will briefly review computer system requirements, installation (i.e., if applicable), and use of the Somatosensory Examination and Evaluation Study Guide.
Minimum System Requirements
- Windows 7 or 8.1 (64 bit), 4th generation Intel Core i architecture (i5/i7) or AMD equivalent
- 6 GB Memory or greater
- Video adapter and monitor with a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels or higher
- 512 MB of video RAM or greater
- Keyboard and a mouse or some other compatible pointing device
- High speed Internet connection
- Sound card with headphones or speakers
- Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) or equivalent
- Adobe Flash Player (free)
- CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive (CD-ROM version)
- USB 2.0 compatible system and open USB 2.0 port (USB flash drive version)
Browser Information and Requirements
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and above or Mozilla Firefox 25 and above with appropriate updates.
- Older versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Netscape will not work properly with this site.
About Adobe Acrobat Reader
Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free software program developed by Adobe Systems, Inc. The program is used to view files in PDF format, which is a format that maintains the layout and design of the original document while greatly reducing the size of the file. Most performance tools are in a PDF format.
Navigation
The study guide functions like an electronic book that runs from within your web browser. In order to promote ease of use, the Study Guide maintains consistent page navigation throughout the module as described below; images of the Cranial Nerve Study Guide are pictured for demonstration purposes only, and actual module interfaces will vary.
The Start Page
The start page is a central location from which the user can access all of the resources of the module. The components of the start page are identified below.
Common Navigation Menu
The common navigation menu is located on most module pages and will allow the user quick access to commonly used resources. When using the Common Navigation Menu, it will be necessary to use the browser back button to return to your starting point. The components of the Common Navigation Menu are identified below.
Content Pages
With a few exceptions, all module pages will look very similar and will include the Common Navigation Menu. Additionally, section name, page forward and page back navigation, and page number identifiers (i.e., page 5 of 10) are located at the bottom of each content page. The components of a typical module content page are identified below.
Video Content Pages
All video content pages will look very similar and will include the Common Navigation Menu and page navigation as described above. Additionally, a flash video player and player controls are located on each video content page. The components of a typical module content page are identified below.
Installation Instructions (for CD-ROM version only)
- Place the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive and close the tray
- The CD will auto-run (auto-run must be enabled)
- Read the “Read Me First" file
- Select the installation option and follow the onscreen instructions
- Install times will vary
- If auto run is not enabled on your computer, use "Windows File Explorer" and open "start.htm", which is located in the root directory of this CD-ROM and follow the above instructions
Running the Study Guide (CD-ROM version only)
- Place the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive and close the tray
- The CD will auto-run (auto-run must be enabled)
- If auto run is not enabled on your computer, use "Windows File Explorer" and open "start.htm", which is located in the root directory of this CD-ROM
Removal (Installation version only)
To remove this program, use the Windows "add or remove program snap-in" that is located in the "Control Panel". If the program path is altered or if the program structure is modified, the remove program function will not operate properly.
