Special instructions
- A variation is testing the individual’s ability to replicate the joint movement.
- Establish a clear means for communication when explaining and demonstrating the technique. For example, using the shoulder, flexion will be called “up,” extension will be “down,” abduction will be “out,” and adduction will be “in.” The health care practitioner and the patient need to use the naming system that is easiest for the patient to remember.
